Wedding Flowers

For a bride who started wedding planning a few months ago, the wedding day marks the end of a long administrative nightmare, which begins with finding the right restaurant and ends with putting on her wedding dress. But this is not all! There are a lot of details which must be arranged, for example wedding flowers. The custom that the bride must hold a bouquet of flowers in her hands is very old. A long time ago the bride and the bridegroom too used to be decorated with flowers and leaves, as a symbol of fertility, of life. Romans considered that scented plants protected young people against bad spirits and old British believed that they can protect them against plague.

It is supposed that the bouquet symbolizes a fresh virgin, and the flowers chosen by her have different meanings. There are three main types of bouquets; you may choose the one which is representative for you.

Waterfall bouquet
It is the biggest and the most formal type of bouquet; according to its name, it looks like a flowers waterfall. In general for this type of bouquet are used elegant flowers, special ones: roses, stephanotis. Although it is really spectacular, it can be a bit uncomfortable and difficult to handle (don’t think to throw it, according to the tradition, you may hurt somebody). But taking into account that you will hold your bouquet only in the church, it is worth the effort.

Light bouquet
The least formal bouquet offers the illusion of a bunch of wild flowers, which have just been picked. In this case the flowers used are not so sophisticated. For example roses wouldn’t look nice in this bouquet if they are not wild roses. The flowers are loosely tied and they can move. Be careful when you throw the bouquet as your wild flowers may spread on the ground!

Round bouquet
It is the classical bride bouquet: round, not very big, it can be made of any kind of flowers. Unlike the waterfall type, in this case you don't need any greenery to sustain your flowers, as round bouquet doesn't have many leaves. The most common variant is the bouquet made of white or pink roses. It is perfect to be thrown.
