Wedding Gown
Between tradition and nonconformism
On the 10th of February 1840 Queen Victoria was getting married Prince Albert in
a dressing gown which was almost defied the rules of the age. She gave up to the
hard hermine fur and the gown charged with jewels, in the favour of a delicate
satin gown, embroidered with a lace stiched manually and orange tree flowers.
Queen Victoria's wedding opened a new era in the wedding gowns style, and her
romantism influenced a lot of generations. The wedding gown acquired a special
place in the history of fashion and it knew a lot of changes in time.
Nowadays a bride may choose from thousands of wedding gowns models which may
define her style and underline her personality.
A wedding gown must express the bride’s personality but in the same time it must
be in harmony with the area in which the religious ceremony and the party will
take place.
The first step which must be taken into account before choosing the
bridal gown
is to choose the place where the wedding will take place: church and restaurant,
or even a central theme of the entire wedding, information which could help the
designer in recommending the proper model. The season and the climate have also
an important role in choosing the type of the wedding gown.
A formal wedding will impose a classical look, an elegant wedding gown, without
an extravagant color or darind neck opening. A wedding held in the open will let
your creativity work and you may wear daring models and cheerful colors, and
they can also be found in the wedding decorations. An elegant wedding held in a
location in the style of a ball room, will impose a sophisticated wedding gown,
highlighted by jewels carefully chosen.
The materials used will also be carefully chosen, and in the summer will be
preferred the vaporous ones ( jorjet veil, organza, net ) whereas in the autumn
or in the winter will be used warmer materials like satin, for example.
